Ideas To Disguise The Outside Unit of Your Ducted Reverse Cycle System

If you’ve recently invested in a Ducted System or are looking at your options, one thing you might not have considered is how the outside unit will look with the rest of your outside decor.

With summer approaching you’re bound to be spending more time outside and you don’t want to have the air conditioning unit to be the feature of your backyard. There are many ways to hide or disguise the unit that can make it blend in seamlessly with the rest of your decor.

Lattice or Bamboo Screen

A lattice or bamboo screen will be the quickest and easiest method to hide the ducted reverse cycle unit. You will be able to pick these up from your local hardware store and are usually available in a variety of colours and styles, meaning you will be able to find the perfect one to blend in.

If you want something to camouflage with your plants and greenery you can plant a climbing vine that grows upwards to cover the stand.

DIY Planter Box

If you want to try your hand at some DIY you can make a planter box that surrounds the unit. Think of a planter box on stilts that will cover the sides and top of the unit then you just need to add on a front panel. You will need to consider leaving gaps in between the panels of the wood to keep it ventilated for air flow.

Remember that whatever you plant in here will most likely drop leaves and you don’t want these to get into the system – so adding a removable grate to catch leaves and petals will be the easiest way to clean it.

Plant some greenery

A very easy way to cover up many things (ducted units, hoses, dodgy paint) is to place some plants in front of the object. Aside from an easy fix up, it is also an easy way to decorate your backyard.

Install a shed

If your space allows for it you can build a shed that hides the Ducted Reverse Cycle unit. This will serve a dual purpose where you can store gardening tools and other items that you want kept out of the way. Just remember that this will need to be kept accessible for repairs and have adequate ventilation for air flow in and out.
